Jailbreak iOS 6 Untethered With Evasi0n [Windows / Mac / Linux]

Those looking to jailbreak their iOS devices can rejoice, since a new tool named Evasi0n has just been released by the Evad3rs team which allows for an iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak on almost all of the devices.
Team Evad3rs was established earlier this year, combines some of the jailbreak community’s most talented developers: Nikias Bassen (Pimskeks), Planetbeing (David Wang), France-based Pod2g (Cyril) and Los Angeles-based MuscleNerd; all known for producing reliable jailbreaks in the past. This team was assembled in order to develop a reliable untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 for post-A5 devices, including the iPhone 5, the iPad mini and the latest-generation iPad. This has now been achieved with the just-released userland jailbreak tool, known as Evasi0n.

The following devices are supported by this tool:

• iPhone 5
• iPhone 4S
• iPhone 4
• iPhone 3GS
• iPad 4
• iPad 3
• iPad 2
• iPad mini
• iPod touch 4
• iPod touch 5

iOS firmware versions supported by Evasi0n:

• iOS 6.0
• iOS 6.0.1
• iOS 6.0.2
• iOS 6.1

Out of all new iOS devices, only the Apple TV 3 is not currently supported, although here’s to hope that a new tool will be developed soon that supports it.

This tool is quite user friendly, yet we remind users not to update their devices over the air (OTA): instead download the latest iOS 6.1 firmware and update to it via iTunes or the standalone ISPW – to take full advantage of all the new features of iOS 6.1 with added benefits of jailbreak.
It was quite a wait, but hopefully iPhone 5 users, as well as owners of previous iOS devices, will be able to customize their iOS setup to their liking, all thanks to Evasi0n jailbreak. We will be posting full how-to tutorials shortly, stay tuned for that!
iOS 6 was originally released in September of last year, featuring many improvements to Apple’s mobile operating system, including a radically revamped Maps app, Facebook integration built into most of its apps, along with improvements to Siri, Mail and other built-in apps. How to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 with redsn0w 0.9.12b1

If you haven't already jailbroken iOS 5.1.1 with greenpois0n Absinthe, or if you had issues with it and are looking for alternatives, you may want to give the newest version of redsn0w a try. Before proceeding, make sure your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad are compatible first.

Supported devices

At this time redsn0w supports all iOS 5.1.1 compatible devices. The difference is that A4, iPhone 4 and earlier, devices will need to use DFU mode while A5 (iPad 2, new iPad, and iPhone 4S) will need to use non-DFU mode with redsn0w. If you've got an iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or new iPad, you'll need the non-DFU mode directions listed below. Or you can jailbreak with Greenpois0n Absinthe instead.

How to jailbreak in DFU mode

1. Download redsn0w 0.9.12b1 from our downloads section. There are versions for both Mac and Windows.
2. Plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into your computer and open up redsn0w.

3. Select Jailbreak from the menu.

4. Read the information redsn0w gives you about what devices are compatible. Once you're sure you can jailbreak, select Next and you will be guided through putting your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into DFU mode.

5. If you successfully got your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into DFU mode redsn0w will ask you what you'd like to do. Make sure Install Cydia is checked and click Next.
6. Let redsn0w do its thing. When you're done you should be able to slide and unlock. You should now see Cydia on one of your Home screens.

How to jailbreak with non-DFU mode

If you've got an iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or new iPad - your process will be a bit easier.

1. Download redsn0w 0.9.12b1 from our downloads section. There are versions for both Mac and Windows.
2. Plug your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into your computer and open up redsn0w.

3. Click Jailbreak and wait for redsn0w to do its thing. Once your iPhone or iPad reboots, just slide to unlock and find Cydia.

Create New Apple ID Without a Credit Card

Instructions: Create an Apple ID (Using iTunes)

You will need an active Internet Connection so turn on Wi-Fi or 3G/Data and make sure your computer is connected.

Step 1

Open iTunes on your computer and click on “iTunes Store”.

Step 2

Once the iTunes Store has loaded, scroll down until you can see the “Free Apps” chart on the right hand side column.
Mouse over any of the apps there and you should see a “FREE” button appear. Click on the button once.

Step 3

A small window should pop up, prompting you to log in. As you do not have an Apple ID yet, go ahead and click on “Create New Account”.

Step 4

Click on “Continue”.

Step 5

Confirm that you are creating an Apple ID for the use in the Malaysia iTunes Store by looking at the line above the Terms of Service. If correct, it should read: “If your billing address is not in Malaysia, click here”. If another country name is stated, click to change it.
Tick the check box to agree to iTunes Store T&C and select “Continue”.

Step 6

Fill in your details. Double confirm the email address is correct as you will need to verify this later. Once done, click on “Continue”.

Step 7

Change the “Payment Method” from Visa to “None”. If you had a credit card, this would be where you would select your card type and enter the relevant details. Now fill in the rest of your details and click on “Continue”.

If you do not see “None” as an option, double check that you chose a FREE app in Step 3 and not a Paid app. If that still doesn’t work and creating an Apple ID straight on the iPad also results in failure, we suggest you call up Apple Support (Malaysia: 1-800 803-638) or visit an Apple Authorised Reseller for assistance.

Step 8

You’ve nearly created your Apple ID. You just have to check your email and verify your account from there.

Step 9

This is what the verification from Apple looks like. Click on “Verify Now” and a new window will open up.

Step 10

Enter your Apple ID (which is your email address) and the password you chose earlier. Click on “Verify Address”. Once the verification is successful, click on “Return to the Store”. This will automatically bring up the iTunes Store in iTunes on your computer.

Step 11

Click on “Done”. Congrats! You have successfully created an Apple ID without a credit card.
Before using the Apple ID on your iPad, we recommend doing the next step first to avoid any possible errors such as This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store…

Downloading & Installing an App (Using iTunes)

Repeat Steps 1-2. This time, log in by entering your Apple ID (which is your email address) and password then click on “Get”. iTunes should now start downloading the FREE app you chose.


Once download is complete, you can test the Apple ID on your iPad. Open the “App Store” on your iPad and navigate to “Top Charts” where you can try downloading a FREE app. Tap on “FREE” and “INSTALL APP”. Enter your password in the login box and tap “OK”. The app should start downloading indicating your new Apple ID works without needing a credit card.
